MVP Monday: Tanner Crumish

A lot has happened since our last edition of MVP Monday – Steph Curry & the Warriors are your 2021/22 NBA Champions, the Colorado Avalanche are up 2 games to none against the Lightning in the battle for Lord Stanley’s Cup and I got a haircut (news worthy if you ask me)! We’re nearing the “baseball is the only sport on right now” phase of Summer which is fitting because we’re highlighting a real home run of an employee this MVP Monday!

Our MVP this week is none other than Tanner Crumish, one of the hard-working Fulfillment Specialists we are happy to have be a part of the team?

Do you have any hobbies? Rec leagues, art, music, etc.

I enjoy fishing and playing soccer and football with my friends.

You know what they say – a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at the office (of course this doesn’t apply if you work at D&A)!

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I do, I have one dog named Marley. I have had her for about 6 years.

12/10 would pet Marley! 

What are your favorite sports teams and why?

My favorite sports teams are the Bills and the Sabres. They are my favorite teams because I live in Buffalo and I grew up watching and going to all their games.

That’s all the explanation I need…we were born into this championship-less life!

Are you a former/current athlete? What sports did you play? What was your favorite?

I have played soccer for 17 years and stopped once I finished high school. I played for my local team Amherst Soccer Association, Empire United, and my Williamsville South High School. Also in High School, I ran track and did Pole Vault.

El joga bonito! Also, pole vaulting!? No thank you, I’m afraid of heights lol

What’s your favorite travel destination/vacation spot?

My favorite vacation spot has to be the Adirondacks, I have been going camping with my uncle for the past 8 years. We go to a campsite called Brown Tract Pond. While we are there we go hiking, swimming, fishing, and kayaking. We like to go Bear and Moose spotting and try to see at least one of them before we leave.

I think I could use nice little wilderness escape like that…minus the bears!

What 2 items would you want on you if you were stranded on a deserted island (food and water covered)

If I was stranded on a deserted island I would want to bring a swiss army knife and a hammock. The swiss army knife so I could use it to try and build some type of shelter and the hammock to sleep in so I wouldn’t be laying on the ground.

Now this is a smart guy! No one ever considers the fact it might be hard to build a shelter if your back is messed up from sleeping on the ground. 

What’s your favorite product that we sell?

My favorite product that we sell would have to be all the Pokémon products. I have been collecting Pokémon cards and playing the games ever since I got my first Game Boy.

Right there with ya, Pokémon Yellow on the OG Game Boy is enough to hook any kid into a lifetime of fandom! 

Do you have any collections of your own?

Yes, I collect Pokémon cards. Most of them right now are single cards but I have recently started collecting graded cards. My favorite one would have to be my graded PSA 7 Dragonite.

Time to start stacking those slabs! Also Dragonite is a great choice, who doesn’t love (or relate too) the plump, lazy dragon?

Tell me about your background with D&A? What attracted you to work for us?

I learned about Dave and Adams through my younger brother because he would ask me to drive him to the store to buy sports cards. We would go maybe once a month to buy some cards and see what they have. I started going more often and saw a now hiring sign and decided to apply because I thought that it seemed like a really good and fun place to work at.

From building memories with your brother as a collector to now being a vital part of the team! File that under things you love to see! 

What makes you love your job?

I love working with all the cards and memorabilia we have and my co-workers. I like to see all the new products that we sell and the signed memorabilia. Also working with all my co-workers as we have similar interests, have fun, and joke around while working. Recently most of us have started playing Pokémon Go together.
