DA Drops of the Week: 2/27-3/5

It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means! DA Drops are hitting the ice today.

Hockey

Let’s get right into it with the always highly anticipated drop of Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. The 2021/22 hobby box is out for order as week speak, so make sure to get yours now!

Hockey collectors across the globe are on the hunt for the top rookie Young Guns like Trevor Zegras, Jamie Drysdale, Cole Caufield, and even the Sabres very own Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen.

This 250-card base set includes 198 regular cards, 49 Young Guns, and three checklist cards.

Upper Deck says there are six regular Young Guns, six Debut Dates, and four UD Canvas cards per box. UD also says collectors should keep an eye out for Game Day jersey cards.

There are also new inserts to talk about in this year’s product. Upper Deck unveils Electromagnetic and Hundo P inserts in 2021/22 Series 1. Electromagnetic features today’s superstars, and Hundo P features players known for their hustle.

Also available in Series 1 are printing plates from different inserts, including UD Canvas (including Young Guns), UD Portraits, Honor Roll, Debut Dates, and Rookie Retrospective.

The regular UD Portraits feature stars and short-printed superstars and return this year with all-new Black & White parallel’s numbered to 250 for stars and just 25 for superstars.

At a rate of one per case, Upper Deck also says the Clear Cut PETG inserts are back as well. The 2021/22 themes include multiplayer Clear Cut Foundations and Clear Cut Leaders, Clear Cut Honoured Members, and the all-new Clear Cut Picks featuring only first-round draft picks.

Series 1 comes with 12 boxes per case, 24 packs per box, and eight cards per back.

Also up today is the 2021/22 Upper Deck MVP Hockey Box Set.

Upper Deck says each MVP Box Set contains the exclusive Blue parallel of the 250-card base set, including 50 High Series Star and Rookie short prints.

Collectors should look out for rare Silver Script parallel Box Sets in which every card is a Silver Script parallel.

All box sets will also include one exclusive five-card bonus pack featuring Eastern Stars, Western Stars, or Rookie Formations.

Baseball

Despite the current lockout situation in the MLB, Leaf is making sure collectors get their fix of the top prospects and stars in baseball.

Available tomorrow is Leaf’s 2021 Draft Baseball. It’s a hobby blaster box with a 50-card base set per box and three autographs to go along.
