My favorite basketball box of all time must be 95-96 Fleer Metal. This was the first box I ever purchased from my local card shop in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in which I pulled a awesome Kevin Garnett Tempered Steel. KG was a rookie that year. I still have the entire set of cards till this day and have been a celtics fan since the day he got traded to Boston. This product is also what really got me into card collecting with its beautiful, shiny design and cool inserts, before the era of jersey cards and when autographs cards were still extremely rare. I started to collect cards recently again after finding the box of Metal cards stored in a cabinet at my parents’ house. This is why 96-97 Fleer Metal is my favorite basketball card product of all time!

92-93 Upper Deck Basketball. It is still my favorite card design in any sport.

2008/09 Topps Treasury. I love so many different things about this product like the cards with real gold medallions in them and the rip cards with the possibility of finding cash. It is such a unique product.

  8. Curtis Arney May 13, 2009 at 9:57 am #

03/04 Topps Finest is my favorite! I put together the 10 card rookie set with King James being number 1 but that product was awesome with the draft picks and swatches and auto’s and refractor parellels it’s the best!

  9. Terry Erskine May 13, 2009 at 12:43 pm #

    Great vidoes guys,

Favorite was the 08/09 UD Black. Don’t know how to top that.

  10. Brad May 13, 2009 at 1:46 pm #

Well, I’m going to have to say it was a box of 1986 Topps Football where I pulled about 2 or three Jerry Rice rookies!!

  11. Brad May 13, 2009 at 1:48 pm #

Sorry, the best box of basketball cards i ever opened was a 1992 Topps Stadium Club!! Jordan, O’Neal to name a couple!!

  12. Matt Mesgleski May 13, 2009 at 4:47 pm #

1996-97 Kobe , AI …..come on this box was actually a better box than my 2003-04 box. did I mention I traded the Kobe rookie for 2 Danny Kanell auto rookie cards : (

My favorite is last years Upper Deck base set, UD 2007-08 Upper Deck Basketball. It is one of first set I completed, had a great price and gotten very lucky with the hits.

  18. Melissa S. May 14, 2009 at 2:25 am #

im going to have to say 06/07 Hoops Hot Prospects. the auto patch rcs are sweet and although i got some lesser known autos, i also pulled a Lamarcus Aldridge letter auto, the case hit!! and one of the better rookies of his class.

My favorite basketball card of all-time would have to be the 1986-87 Fleer Jordan rookie. By today’s standards, that set may look a little archaic. However, I was a teenager at the time and I traded 134 various rookie Gregg Jeffries( the next Honus Wagner) for a small stack of 86-87 Fleer and a couple 2nd year Marino and 2nd year Elway. I had no idea of the value of the basketball cards at the time, but where I lived, it was impossible to buy packs of basketball cards, so I traded. Later, I discovered that there were four years of rookie cards. My little stack included Jordan, Barkley, Wilkins, Alojuwon, and non-rookies Erving, Abdul-Jabbar, Magic, Bird. Had I known what I was getting, I would Have gotten Thomas, Worthy, and many others. Beggars can’t be choosers. They are not the prettiest cards. The borders were red, usually not perfect, and I heard would show white through them, if you didn’t take care. Still, I started collecting when there was just Topps and it wasn’t the business it is today; but I still love my cards and my Jordan rookie. I just wish I had the funds to buy every different product. Good Hunting!

my favorite box for basketball is the 95-96 spx.. awsome design..

  24. Thomas Bell May 15, 2009 at 8:05 pm #

My favorite has to be 08-09 Sp Authentic Basketball. I collected cards in highschool, but had only bought a pack every once in a while… untill I hit a $20 Kobe insert and got started all over again. Now I am spending 200 bucks a month or more on them. But so far, Authentic has been the best looking design I have seen and it has plunty of auto’s of these great rookies from this season. Best so far is a Rudy Fernandez Vital Sign…i’m holdin on to that one!

  25. Kevin B May 17, 2009 at 2:10 am #

Fleer 86-87. I think this was Fleer’s first set since the early 60’s. And I know everyone will think the key card is the Jordan, which is probably true, but my hero growing up was Larry Bird. I had convinced myself that if Larry Bird could play, then maybe I could true- which is absolutely, completely not true. But still a magical set with some TREMENDOUS cards.

  26. vince gosse May 17, 2009 at 2:26 am #

07/08 Chronology, great legends and current stars, sick patch autos, canvas cards are super nice, inscription autos as well, cant go wrong with this product

  27. Fuji May 17, 2009 at 3:24 am #

My favorite basketball product of all-time is 96/97 Skybox EX2000. It has an awesome design… the combination of a shiny, relective border along with an acetate background is second to none. Throw in the fact that it has an amazing rookie class of Kobe, Iverson, and Ray Allen… and you have one sweet product.

  28. Eric T. May 17, 2009 at 8:54 am #

I recently started to collect Basketball cards again after couple years of hiatus. Few weeks ago, I just bought couple boxes from DCW and I fell in love instantly with Topps Murad T-51. The design is just perfect with the old school/new school combination. One of the special is Framed Silk Parallel where a small silk banner is placed inside the card. The idea is just innovative and great…

  29. zachary Mondschein May 17, 2009 at 11:57 am #

my favorite is the 04-05 ultimate collection because i pulled a k-mart auto rookie/250 and he is my favorite player

  30. edku May 18, 2009 at 12:47 am #

Well, being a new collector (just started a few months ago!!!) I have a small choice of what products I can choose from. But out of the products I have sampled I would pick 08-09 Fleer Hot Prospects. It has a really sweet design (in my opinion) and an awesome rookie auto set – draft day postmarks. It has a pretty good price and you get a lot for a rookie autograph patch and 2 GUs.

  31. BNLFans May 18, 2009 at 1:20 am #

For my fav BB box I’ll have to go back to 90-91 Skybox. I was a big Supersonics fan, and Kemp and “The Glove” were two of my favs, and getting their RC- and a nice Jordan was the highlight of a trip Seattle and a stop at Fred Meyer.

  32. Ian Marderness May 18, 2009 at 9:16 am #

I don’t buy that much basketball but ive started to buy a box every once in awhile. My favorite box was 2008/2009 topps treasury. I liked the rip cards that came in each box and pulled one of those rip cards with money inside as well. It only had a $20 dollar bill but I still really enjoyed ripping this product.

  33. Dave Witmer May 18, 2009 at 3:16 pm #

My favorite basketball box of all time would have to be a retail box of 1997/98 Skybox Z-Force. I was a kid at the time, and the $19.99 price tag was about all I could afford. The design of the base cards was crazy, but I had a blast ripping through all the packs, examining each card as I flipped through the latest additions to my collection. I pulled a Michael Jordan Quick Strike insert and went nuts. The set looks a little ridiculous compared to most of my collection, but I can’t think of any other box of cards I’ve had more fun opening.

  34. sasha parfenov May 18, 2009 at 4:52 pm #

My favorite box is 2005-06 bowman basketball. They were the first packs i ever opened and i pulled the best auto at that time. A andrew bogut rookie auto #1 draft pick. It got me into collecting

  35. Joe Holman May 18, 2009 at 6:01 pm #

My favorite basketball box is 2006-07 Topps Luxury Box – 5 hits for a reasonable price and many multi-piece jerseys which are really cool!

  36. mike buzzard May 19, 2009 at 12:35 am #

My favorite box of all time is Bowman 05-06 hobby. It was the first box that I ever broke and I pulled a Monta Ellis auto /250. This is the box that got me interested in the hobby of collecting cards. I just thought it had an interesting design and I liked having two sets coming in one pack. I also thought it was fun that you pulled so many rookies from one box, seemed like I was getting my moneys worth when opening this box. Also having several numbered cards per box was cool too.

  41. Tammy Montgomery May 20, 2009 at 12:13 pm #

I just recently started collecting NBA basketball, but my favorite set so far is 06-07 E-x. I have a thing for the cards printed on Acetate (SPx, E-x, Trilogy, etc)

  42. Daniel Mindieta May 20, 2009 at 8:12 pm #

The one I like is the Upper Deck 2003 with some of the best rookies around with carmelo and lebron

  43. Jim Hand May 21, 2009 at 1:53 pm #

My favorite box has to be the 2008-2009 Topps Co-Signers. This is brand new, but the limited edition subsets are a blast to find in the packs. I got dual autograph cards of John Havlicek/JoJo White and Dominique Wilkins/Vince Carter (# to 43), an autograph rookie Roy Hibberd, a Changing Faces card with Lebron and Derrick Rose # to 899, another CF card with Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett # to 99. Lots of rookies (all # to 2008), lots of stars, present and past. Photography is great, inserts are terrific and numbered.

  44. Jim Fong May 21, 2009 at 5:11 pm #

My favorite basketball card set of all time is the 1996/97 Fleer. I just like it because of all the great rookie cards (including Michael Jordan) in that set.

    2000/01 SP Authentic.

Living in South Africa, not many cards were available at all – the last cards we saw were 96/97 Fleer. I bought this from the US after reading the SP hype in Beckett and loved it straight away – stunning clean design [which they seem to manage each year] Highlight – pullled a Kevin Garnett/Kenyon Martin dual auto, really brought a smile when KG won the championship last year.

  49. Chad Lambert May 23, 2009 at 11:17 pm #

I would say 1987 Fleer. It’s not the flashiest set, but it was the first pack of basketball cards I ever opened, and I pulled Michael Jordan, which made it special.

I’ve got to go with the set that started the 1 card pack craze 1996 SPX… would have given a kidney to pull that Jordan autograph redemption, never did, but i spent a great many weeks allowance trying.

  54. John Hartman May 28, 2009 at 10:18 pm #

98-99 SP Authentic. Loaded with rookies. That Vince Carter was the card to have after the slam dunk contest.

my favorite basketball box has to be 97-98 EX-2001 . It contains everything. Wonderful base design , Great Parallel inserts and the great chance of pulling one of the best autograph inserts ever (97-98 autographics) that has one of the best names in the nba , from legends to future hall of famers .

  64. Alec Smith May 30, 2009 at 9:05 pm #

My favorite basketball card of all time is my ’03-04 Fleer Limited Edition Chauncey Billups card. This was in the very first pack of basketball cards I got. My grandpa bought it for me on my birthday and Chauncey Billups was my favorite basketball player. He was still on the Detroit Pistons which was also my favorite team. After I got that pack of cards I started collecting. Most people would pick their newest or highest value card to be thier favorite like a Joe Dumars,Micheal Jordan, or Bill Russell. I’m picking my very first card. I’ve purchased cards from Dave and Adams’ Card World before and the products were great. I just wanted to let you kow that this is the first contest that I’ve entered in and whether I win this or not it will not change the fact that you guys are the best place to purchase cards from ever.
