Far from the strife of Dominaria lies Lorwyn, an idyllic world where races of fable thrive in perpetual midsummer. Lorwyn is covered with dense forests, meandering rivers, and gently rolling meadows. The sun never quite dips below the horizon, and winter is entirely unknown.

Lorwyn is the start of a new block for Magic: The Gathering.
Lorwyn is the start of a new setting, giving a unique twist to old favorites and introducing new places, creatures, and characters to the world of Magic. Lorwyn returns to a "distinct classic fantasy feel" for Magic. This set introduces new mechanics and a new card type.

Lorwyn is a verdant world preserved in eternal midsummer, where creatures of fable thrive in nature's pristine wilds. A heavily forested world of fantastical locales, epic quests and legendary places, figures and acts.

# Lorwyn is creatively part of a first mini-block together with only one small set ("Morningtide")

# Lorwyn has a tribal theme. Fewer wrath effects in this block vs. in Onslaught. Makes tribal matter more as creatures can't get wiped out as often.

# New card type: "Planeswalker". This isn't just for the block but will be a part of Magic for the foreseeable future. Planeswalker is a permanent. It's not a subtype. It'll play differently than any other card type and Wizards will be dedicating Tips & Tricks cards to explain what this new card type does. Planeswalkers will be strong enough to support non-tribal strategies.

# (Almost) new cardtype: Tribal. Each tribal card has another card type. Playing and resolving a tribal card follows the rules for playing and resolving a card of the other type. The set of tribal subtypes is the same as the set of creature subtypes. Instants, Sorceries and Enchantments all feature the Tribal type.

# New mechanic: Evoke: (You may play a spell for its evoke cost. If you do, it's sacrificed when it comes into play.)

# New keyword action: Champion. For example: Champion an elf (when this comes into play, sacrifice it unless you remove another elf you control from the game. When this leaves play, return that card to play.)

# The Lorwyn-set will contain Xth-like tokens and tips & tricks cards. The tokens will correspond to the tokens created by the cards in the block, and the Tips & Tricks will be an in-depth look into the new mechanics of the block. You'll get two tokens for every one Tips & Tricks card.
