Reed Kasaoka is the head buyer of the Sports Division at Dave & Adam's. His primary responsibility is traveling all over the country, buying private collections out of peopleโs closets, bedrooms, attics, basements, garages, and storage units, as well as complete inventories of show dealers, shop owners, autograph dealers, and distributors. Reed comes up with some amazing finds โ rarely seen unopened boxes, quality graded cards, certified autographed memorabilia, and much more.
We have tagged all of his acquisitions as a Reed Buy so youโll know where to look first for all of his deals. Almost every item is โone-of-a-kindโ โ so when you see something interesting, donโt hesitate, because there are likely many other collectors who are thinking the exact same thing!
1994/95 Topps Finest Hockey Hobby Box (Reed Buy)
24 Packs Per Box, 7 Cards Per Pack
Key Rookies: Miikka Kiprusoff, Ryan Smyth
This 165-card super-premium set was issued in seven-card packs, in 24-pack boxes. The cards featured a blue marbleized foil border with a centered player photo. The player's last name only, along with the Finest logo, dominated the top of the front. The card fronts also featured a clear protective peel-off coating which was designed to prevent scratches and other damage to the card. Values below reflect unpeeled cards, although hobby opinions on whether to leave the coating intact or remove it vary. Collectors are advised to make a decision based on their own preference. Card backs had player photos, brief stats, and a recap of that player's finest moment. Card numbers 5, 56, 68, and 99 had wrong photos and player names on the back. These were corrected only in the '94-95 Finest Super Team Stanley Cup Winner Redemption set. A World Junior players subset was included (112-165). Rookie cards in the set included Bryan Berard, Radek Bonk, Eric Daze, Miikka Elomo, Eric Fichaud, Sean Haggerty, Ed Jovanovski, Ryan Smyth, Jeff O'Neill and Wade Redden.
