216 card set (NM-MT condition)
The 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee set contained 216 standard size color cards. Included are players from the 6 expansion teams: Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota North Stars, Oakland Seals, St. Louis Blues, and Los Angeles Kings. The cards were originally sold in 5-cent wax packs. The horizontally-oriented fronts feature the player in foreground with an artisitcally rendered hockey scene in the background. The bilingual backs were printed in black and red ink. The player's 1967-68 and career statistics, a short biography, and a cartoon-illustrated fact about the player were included on the back. The cards were printed in Canada and were issued by O-Pee-Chee, even though the Topps Gum copyright is found on the reverse. For the most part, the cards are grouped by teams. However, numerous cards are updated to reflect off-season transactions. The O-Pee-Chee set featured many different poses from the corresponding Topps cards. Card #193 can be found either numbered or unnumbered. Rookie cards in this set include Bernie Parent, Mickey Redmond, Gary Smith, and Garry Unger.
