Reed Kasaoka is the head buyer of the Sports Division at Dave & Adam's. His primary responsibility is traveling all over the country, buying private collections out of people’s closets, bedrooms, attics, basements, garages, and storage units, as well as complete inventories of show dealers, shop owners, autograph dealers, and distributors. Reed comes up with some amazing finds – rarely seen unopened boxes, quality graded cards, certified autographed memorabilia, and much more.
We have tagged all of his acquisitions as a Reed Buy so you’ll know where to look first for all of his deals. Almost every item is “one-of-a-kind” – so when you see something interesting, don’t hesitate, because there are likely many other collectors who are thinking the exact same thing!
1994/95 Upper Deck SP Basketball Hobby Box
32 packs per box, 8 cards per pack
Holoview Die-Cut 1:75
The complete 1994-95 SP set (issued by Upper Deck) consists of 165-card standard size cards. The set features full-bleed fronts with color action photos. There is a gold strip down the left side with the player name while the team name is at the bottom. The backs feature another color action photo with the statistics at the bottom and a gold hologram at the bottom left. The only subset is Premier Prospects (1-30) which highlights rookies. Unlike the regular player cards, these rookie-focused cards have a full-bleed gold foil background with a silver foil pyramid at the bottom with the player's name in it. The backs have a vertical color player photo on the right and statistics on the left. After the Premier Prospects subset, the cards are grouped alphabetically within teams. Two parallel Michael Jordan cards (red and silver), both numbered MJ1, were randomly inserted into packs. The cards feature feature photos from Jordan's return with the words "He's Back March 19, 1995" in red foil. The red version was inserted at a ratio of one in every 30 packs. The silver version was inserted at a ratio of one in every 192 packs. Rookie Cards of note in this set include Grant Hill, Juwan Howard, Eddie Jones, Jason Kidd and Glenn Robinson.
