Wednesday, “The Chase” hosted a pair of guests on the shows second episode. The first of the duo was collector Jason Hickey.

Hickey was ⅓ of the trio to win the illustrious LeBron James triple logoman, from the 2020-21 Panini Flawless Basketball collection.

The same card that was also hunted by music superstar Drake, is a one of one with three NBA logos from all three of James’ teams – the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers.

The card went off to PSA and is now in the hands of Ken Goldin and being auctioned off on Goldin’s website.

At the time of publishing, the highest current bid is $1.7 million.

Hickey joined “The Chase” crew to discuss the emotions of pulling, arguably, the most valuable sports card of all time, as well as describing his experiences in the hobby.

Hickey said he became a collector at a young age, mainly on the baseball and basketball front, then he took a little break in high school and college, before getting back into it after receiving his first job.

“I would say I really got back into it about a year before COVID,” Hickey said. “With COVID, there wasn’t much to do and that’s when I really started getting more into the breaks aspect of it.”

Hickey added that he does a little bit of ripping by himself, as well as getting into breaks.

Pulling the LeBron logoman hits home for Hickey, as he claimed his interest in basketball, playing throughout his youth and being an avid Knicks fan. He also said he “obsessed” over Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan when they played.

As far as the actual break that landed him the logoman, Hickey said it was a multi-sport break with 32 participants and each participant had an NFL team with a corresponding NBA team.

“So in this particular case, when I bought in, I got two teams. I got the Tennessee Titans and I got the Cleveland Browns,” Hickey said. “Obviously, they correlated to the appropriate NBA teams, so I had the Grizzlies and the Cavs in this particular break.”

Hickey said he was able to watch the break live at home, ironically with an NBA game on in the background.

“My daughter was home with me, my wife and my son were out, and when it happened, man, I was pretty much in a state of shock. I kind of dropped my phone, asked myself a few times ‘Is this real?’ and then ultimately started dropping some F-bombs, and that’s when my 10-year-old daughter ran out of her room asking if everything was OK,” Hickey said with a laugh.

Hickey added, his son is big into the hobby and he and his friends were “super pumped” to hear about the pull.

As well as cards, Hickey is an avid shoe collector. He said as a basketball player he was always into wearing Jordans.

“As I got set in my career and had some extra spending money, I dove into sneakers pretty heavy a few years ago. I would say that, over time, I have sold a decent amount of my sneaker collection and I’ve basically funneled that money into cards. But I still have about 30 to 40 pairs of sneakers that I haven’t worn that I’ll probably save for a long time,” he said.
