Upper Deck completes their flagship hockey release this February with 2015-16 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey.
Series 2 will feature the long awaited Young Guns card of 2015 second overall selection, Jack Eichel. Upper Deck has also confirmed that Noah Hanafin, Nikolay Goldobin and Jake Virtanen will appear on the Young Guns checklist in Series 2 as well. Hobby boxes contain six Young Guns cards each.
While Connor McDavid’s Young Guns will have already debuted in Series 1, he will have a Young Guns UD Canvas insert that will be exclusive to this release.
Additional rookie content in Series 2 includes Rookie Breakouts die-cuts printed on acetate. These clear cards will be numbered out of 100. UD Portraits Rookies will land in one out of every six packs. Gold parallels will be numbered out of 99 with Platinum Blue parallels numbered to 25. O-Pee-Chee Update and Rookie cards are also available in Series 2. Update cards appear one per box with four OPC rookies per box. There are levels of parallels, including Black Border parallels numbered out of 100. Look for Retro versions of OPC Update and Rookie cards.
The base set features 200 cards with players that didn’t make the cut in Series 1 or were traded mid-season. Parallel versions include UD Exclusives numbered out of 100 and High Gloss numbered to ten plus one-of-one printing plates. Each box will average about four UD Canvas cards that will either be a base card, Young Gun, Team Canada Program of Excellence or a retired player. Day With The Cup inserts once again appear in Series 2, which honor the Chicago Blackhawks 2014-15 Stanley Cup championship celebration.
Memorabilia hits in Series 2 include Rookie Materials, UD Game Jerseys and 1,000 Point Club Jerseys. Rookie Materials and UD Game have patch parallels numbered to 25 and 15 respectively. 1,000 Point Club has jersey autograph versions numbered to just ten. There are just two sets of signed cards in Series 2 with UD Signatures and autographed versions of the O-Pee-Chee Updates.
