Welcome back again to another MVP Monday! We have so many awesome employees at Dave and Adam’s and love being able to highlight a new member each week. This week our MVP is Nick Bergman!
Nick has been with the company since 2017, starting as the general manager of our retail store in Buffalo, NY. By the end of January 2020, Nick moved into our corporate office to direct our product development team. The pandemic led to many ups and downs within the industry this past year, which made for a challenging transition. Nick used the opportunity to learn and grow within the company.
As someone who has always been passionate about sports, Nick also shares a love for cooking. According to Nick, he has acquired an “insane amount of cookbooks” and many different grills and smokers allowing him to constantly try new recipes and food combinations. Even before working at Dave and Adam’s, Nick explored a career in the culinary field. He worked as a store GM for Chipotle and then later moved on to work on a “special assignment” in the Prepared Foods department at Wegmans (a local grocery store)
Although Nick loved his job at Wegmans, he came across the posting for the General Manager position at our retail store, and couldn’t resist. When describing what initially drew him to apply he said, “It seemed like it would be a lot of fun to be around things you enjoy everyday.” Let’s be honest, to have the ability to talk about sports, cards, and memorabilia all day, how could you not love it?
The card and memorabilia industry has progressed so much over the years and Nick expressed how important it has been to adapt with those changes. He’s seen the industry change first hand and remembers back to his childhood, spending his weekly allowance on cards at his local card shop. In order to stay on top of it, Nick uses everyday as a learning opportunity and follows the lead of the people that have been within the industry for a long time.
Nick can’t say enough good things about Dave and Adam’s and expressed the fact that he truly enjoys coming to work everyday. He is grateful for the unique experience to be surrounded by different people who have so much knowledge in their respective fields. Especially after coming from large national companies, it’s been refreshing to see how each employee has an impact on how the company performs daily. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his two kids, Kennedy and Jackson. He also loves any opportunity to cook, so he and his wife love hosting people at their house and cooking for everyone. He also enjoys golf, but given his busy schedule he rarely has the opportunity to play. We are lucky to have Nick as part of our team and thank him for being our MVP this week!
