Who We Are

Dave and Adam’s Card World was founded in 1991 when two friends opened a small sports card store in Buffalo, NY. Dave and Adam’s passion for trading cards has helped the company grow to be a leader in the industry. Currently located in Tonawanda, NY, we operate two custom warehouse and office facilities, and five retail stores. We’ve expanded our product expertise to include Gaming Trading Cards, Sports Apparel, Vintage Comic Books, and Sports Memorabilia. Shipping hundreds of orders daily, we reach all of North America as well as an extensive international customer base.


What We Need

We’re looking for Junior Programmer and Web Developer who is bright, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a team. Should be experienced building for the web using PHP, Python or other languages in multiple environments. Should also be able to produce clean, maintainable and usable code by following standard programming recommendations


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining existing web sites and applications

  • Design and development of new web properties

  • Minor database administration for internal applications

  • Testing and quality control during the application development process

  • Assisting the Director of Marketing and the Director of Web Technologies with daily tasks

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Job is full-time, on-site at our Tonawanda, NY facility


Required Technical Skills:

  • PHP, Python

  • Web Application Development Frameworks (Zend, CakePHP, Lithium, etc..)

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Responsive Web Design

  • Web Development Tools and Frameworks (jQuery, Bootstrap, Foundation, LESS, or CoffeeScript)

  • Relational Database Management Systems (MySQL, Postgres)

  • Document Databases (MongoDB)

  • Source control via git and Github.

  • WordPress

  • Data serialization formats (XML and JSON)

  • Web Server Software (Apache, IIS, nginx, or lighttpd)


Other Skills:

  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

  • Creative thinking

  • Problem solving, analyzing and implementing possible solutions

  • Attention to detail

  • Comfortable learning new programming languages or tools

  • Efficient planning and organization

  • Search Engine best practices and developing with SEO in mind


Bonus Skills or “Nice to Haves”

  • Microsoft Visual FoxPro

  • Python

  • Graphic Design experience using Photoshop or equivalent

  • Ubuntu or other Linux flavors.

  • Familiarity with Shell scripting via OS X or other Linux flavors
