DA Drops of the Week: 6/6-6/10

We’re in the heat of the NBA Finals, and the MLB season wages on. Let’s see what’s dropping in the hobby this week, folks.

Wednesday, June 8

Basketball

Panini Noir Basketball for the 2021/22 season will hit shelves this week.

Look for on-card autographs, including Sneaker Spotlight Signatures and Spotlight Signatures.

Panini says collectors can find base cards featuring players in Icon and Association jerseys in parallels such as Holo Silver (#’d/35), Gold (#’d/10), Holo Gold (#’d/5), and Platinum one of ones.

Collectors can also chase Metal Frame inserts like Feature Length, Split Screen, Vintage Art, and brand-new SLAM! Kicks.

There are three memorabilia cards, three base or parallel cards, and four autographs per box.

Noir is one pack per box with ten cards.

Entertainment

Topps will release the Star Wars: Bounty Hunters box, where collectors can join the hunt to seek cards featuring some of the most notorious bounty hunters in the galaxy.

Hobbyists will find one autograph and one relic or sketch card per box. 

There are autographs, commemorative patches, rare base cards, sketch cards, and “super rare” bounty buyback cards from the 1977 Topps Star Wars release.

Be on the lookout for parallels and dual autographs. Bounty Hunters is 24 packs with eight cards per pack.

Friday, June 10

Baseball

Series 2 of Topps Baseball is rounding third and headed home this week. Topps says Series 2 will capture more of the excitement of the game.

Cards will celebrate modern stars, emerging rookies, and legendary greats.

The hobby box will have 24 packs with 14 cards each, an auto or relic per box, one silver pack, clear base parallels, and 1987 Topps All-Star inserts.

As for the jumbo box, there will be one autograph, two relics, two silver packs, and exclusive box loaders.

Some new Panini baseball is also hitting shelves at the end of the work week.

2022 Absolute will showcase autographs from a “strong” 2022 rookie class. Panini says the autos are on multiple materials like wood in Rookie Wood Signatures and baseball skins in the new Rookie Baseball Material Booklet Signatures.

There are hobby exclusive parallels, including Holo Silver (#’d/199), Spectrum Blue (#’d/149), Spectrum Red (#’d/99), Spectrum Purple (#’d/25), Spectrum Gold (#’d/10), Spectrum Black (#’d 1/1), and Printing Plates (all #’d 1/1).

Panini also adds that Tools of the Trade Signatures come in two, three, four, and jumbo swatch variations featuring memorabilia from legends and current stars.

Look for two autographs and two memorabilia cards per box. Also, there’s one #’d insert per box.

There are two packs per box, with ten cards per pack.

Football

We still have some 2021 releases to get to before we see the new draft class.

This week it’s Obsidian, combining sleek black opti-chrome technology with Electric Etched parallels to “provide collectors a stunning look unlike any other product,” Panini said.

Chase veteran and retired player autographs in Matrix Material Autos, Lightning Strike, and Aurora Autos.

There are also inserts, including Color Blast Black, Tunnel Vision, Supernova, and Vitreous.

All new in this year’s Obsidian is Electric Etch Gold Flood parallels #’d /10.

Panini says patch autographs are available from the top NFL rookies in the 2021 class like Lawrence, Fields, Jones, and Lance.

Obsidian will have four autographs or memorabilia cards, two parallels or inserts per box, and one base card.

It is one pack with seven cards per pack.

Basketball

Last but not least in this week’s drops is the 2021/22 Leaf Pro Set Basketball Hobby Box.

Leaf’s first-ever Pro Set basketball set features an “unparalleled” selection of upcoming basketball draftees and future draftees from all levels, including college and even the nation’s top high school prospects.

The company says Steph Curry and Giannis Antetokounmpo will also appear in this release.

Collectors can look for Power Moves inserts and Power Combos dual-signed cards.

There are seven autographs per box.
