DA Drops of the Week: 12/27-1/1

After a week off, we’re back with your DA Drops of the week! We have a lot of new baseball products to talk about heading into the new year, plus some good ol’ wrasslin’, and even some hockey this week.

Baseball

There’s an abundance of Bowman in this week’s drops. We’re welcoming in 2022 with some 2021 Bowman Draft Super Jumbo, Hobby Jumbo, and Hobby LITE, as they are due to drop on New Year’s Eve (12/31).

Now that’s a lot to unpack, so here’s a little look at how you can differentiate the “Super Jumbo,” “Hobby Jumbo,” and “Hobby LITE,” and how they work.

According to Topps, in the Super Jumbo, collectors will look for five autographs, the Hobby Jumbo will have three prospect autographs, and the Hobby LITE will include five exclusive black & white RayWave Refractor parallels.

The Super Jumbo is five packs per box, with 120 cards per pack, the Hobby Jumbo is 12 packs per box, with 23 cards per pack, and the Hobby LITE is ten packs per box, with 11 cards per pack.

While collecting the 200 card base set, look for Chrome Draft Picks autographs in the Super and Hobby Jumbo.

Bowman Draft is bringing some new image variations parallels in autographs and base cards. Among new variations in Draft are Genesis, Bowman Draft Night, and Bowman Invicta.

In addition to the new base parallels, there’s also new Genesis, Draft Night, Class of 2021, and Invicta autographs in the Super and Hobby Jumbo.

We are also due to see the release of the Bowman’s Best on the 31st. This product is a 100 card base set. Collectors will look for four chrome autographs per box.

Just like the Bowman Draft, Bowman’s Best is bringing new insert parallels and autograph parallels to the series.

Making a debut in Bowman’s Best autograph department is Future Vibrance, Masterpieces parallel, and Rookie Craftsmanship parallel.

Those parallels, plus Heatwave Die-Cuts, are also debuting for the base inserts.

Future Vibrance is “trying to capture the vibrations coming from the next class of young phenoms on their way to the show.”

Heatwave Die-Cuts are “showcasing the top players of today and tomorrow,” while the Rookie Craftmanship is a “puzzle-like” set to piece together the young talent.

This rendition of Bowman Masterpieces takes inspiration from the pop-art era of the 1960s.

And last but not certainly least, Topps is dropping its prestigious Transcendent Collection on New Year’s Eve as well!

For collectors unaware of what Transcendent has to offer, the premium baseball product brings you a 50-Card Transcendent Collection set and 50 Transcendent Collection autographs.

Look for cards such as 1957 Topps SuperFractor autographs numbered one-of-one, Transcendent Icons Gold Deco Variation autographs numbered one-of-one, one-of-one Cut Signatures and Juan Soto or Ronald Acuna Jr. Through the Years Autographs.

Those are in addition to the Transcendent Collection autographs.

Be sure to keep an eye out for Original Art Sketch cards, original Art Sketch Card Patch Relic, which is new, Transcendent Icons, and a VIP Event Invitation Card.

The VIP event card in the Transcendent case is an exclusive invite to an experience unlike any other with Topps. Collectors will enjoy a night among the stars packed with exclusive gifts, prizes, meet and greets, and more.

Wrestling

Sticking with Topps here, the company trades in the baseball diamond for the squared circle with two new WWE releases this week.

First, down the entrance ramp is 2021 Topps WWE Fully Loaded, appropriately named after an old WWE PPV, due to hit shelves today Wednesday, December 29.

Each box contains one encased autograph or autograph relic card.

Look for future stars autos from up-and-coming talent on the WWE and NXT rosters, legends autos, and autographed relic cards such as gear relic autos, table relic autos, and new trash can relic autos.

MMA

We’re switching gears now to the world of mixed martial arts.

Panini is bringing you 2021 Immaculate UFC this Friday, debuting with the company’s first on-card autographs of the greatest fighters, past and present, in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

On average, each box will have three autographs and two memorabilia cards.

Keep an eye out for memorabilia autographs, Immaculate Milestones, dual autographs, Marks of Greatness, and jumbo memorabilia.

Panini says collectors can also look for memorabilia swatches from unique pieces of UFC equipment, including fight mats, gloves, shorts, and walk-out shirts.

There are five boxes per case, one pack per box, and six cards per pack.

Cards in this set are also limited to 99 copies or less.

Basketball

On the same note, Panini is releasing 2020-21 Immaculate Basketball on Friday.

Like the UFC, Immaculate Basketball has three autographs and two memorabilia cards per box.

NBA collectors out there want to get their hands on the monster Rookie Patch Autographs in this set from stars of the future like Anthony Edwards, LaMelo Ball, and James Wiseman.

There’s also a variety of memorabilia that includes sneaker soles, sneaker laces, team logos, brand logos, championship tags, and last but not least, logomans.

I’d say there are plenty of cards for collectors to hunt in this high-end product from Panini.

Immaculate Basketball is one pack per box and six cards per pack.

Hockey

Upper Deck rounds out this week’s list of new releases with the 2021/22 MVP Hockey hobby box. It also happens to be the 20th anniversary of the MVP product.

This year includes three new insert sets, Hart Attack, which features Hart Trophy contenders, Before and After, showing a player in pregame attire and then in action on the ice on the same card, and Mascot Gaming Cards, which, you guessed it, features the 30 NHL mascots.

On average, Upper Deck says collectors can find four regular Hart Attack and, or Before and After cards per box.

The 200 card base set will include 50 High Series Star & Rookie SP cards. Collectors may look for Zegras, Caufield, or Knight in the Rookie SP portion of the set.

To pay homage to the 2001/02 “MVP Watch” design, Upper Deck is putting in four 20th anniversary cards per box on average, along with gold and Super Scripts (numbered to 25) parallels.
