“Who is your favorite baseball player of all time?”
Congratulations on 1,000,000 visitors to WaxHeaven, and good luck with all the contests!
Frank Robinson is my favorite.
Why, Ryne Sandberg, of course!!
Jorge Posada is my favorite of all time.
The greatest baseball player of all time…Jackie Robinson. Robinson may not have hit 500 home runs, but his contribution to baseball and civil rights is superior.
I pay tribute to Robinson with my email address and eBay ID: brooklyn42fan.
Andre Dawson – Hands down, no question.
Thanks for the contest guys!
Dead serious when I say it, Cory Snyder (former utility guy for Cleveland, San Francisco, LA, Toronto, and the White Sox) was my favorite player.
When I was growing up, I always looked up to Nolan Ryan as my role model. He is my favorite of all time.
Cal Ripken Jr.
Cal Ripken is my all time favorite player
Thank you for the contest.
Joe Quinn – the first Aussie to play MLB!!!
Derek Jeter is my favorite. Thanks for the contest!
My favorite player of all-time is Steve Sax. I grew up a Dodgers fan and Steve was the kind of low power/high average scrappy infielder I envisioned myself becoming one day. It didn’t work out and Steve’s days as a Dodger were numbered, but I’ll always remember the poster I used to have on my wall with Sax in front of a ZZ Top-esque hot rod that my teacher sold me for three bucks!
Thanks for the contest!
Hmm…tough choice, but I’ll go with Craig Biggio.
Ben Sheets. Thanks for the contest.
With appologies to Grady Sizemore, I have to pick Ernie Camacho. I loved him as a kid. It didn’t matter that Macho Camacho wasn’t any good.
If I don’t win I will be pulling for Drew who picked Cory Snyder. Nice.
George Brett, Thanks guys!
I found Mario’s site because of my Jose Canseco fandom.
Keith Hernandez – The best at pulling off the 3-6-3 double play.
Andy Pettitte, hands down!
Nolan Ryan, without a doubt.
Ken Griffey Jr.
Gotta go with Mark Grace! Thanks for the contest.
Tony Gwynn would be my favorite baseball player. Thanks for helping with this contest.
oh and props to the guy who said Tim Flannery.
Mine is Nolan Ryan.
Mark McGwire. I know… shush. 🙂
Mike Pelfrey of course. I have a blog about him!
The one and only… Ken Griffey Jr!
Hank Aaron, Home Run King.
Congrats to Mario and thanks to Dacardworld.
The stoic Scott Rolen
His career was short lived but I have to say Bo Jackson was my favorite player. He jolted the hobby and the sport. (Going to find video of Bo gunning down runner at home from the fence right now.)
Without a doubt, Lou Whitaker
Cory Snyder. Such a random choice but he’s my favorite player/Indians from when I was a kid.
Definitely Kirby Puckett.
Ken giffey jr
Jake Peavy’s pitching made me love baseball again. No question.
I’ll go with Orel Hershiser.
I always like Luis Tiant. Not necessarily the greatest pitcher of all time, but the coolest one…
Cal Ripken Jr
My all-time favorite is Cub great Ron Santo.
Kelly Gruber…growing up I used to try and mimic his diving plays at third.
Tony Gwynn. If I don’t win I am pulling for Jacob (Gwynn), Rod “Awesomeness” Richards (Tim Flannery), and Guy Sanchez (Peavy)- GO PADRES!!!
Eric Davis #44
Hank Aaron is my favorite player!!
My favorite baseball player is easily Mike Piazza. He is the greatest hitting catcher of all time and the face of the Mets when I started getting into baseball.
Favorite Player? Ok how about this,I’m thinking outside the box. Any Retired N.Y. Yankee Player.
The Big Hurt, Frank Thomas
Easy one: Ron Cey
Derek Jeter for sure, when I used to play, I always wanted to be him…
It’s strange, the more that I learned about the deep-dark statistical world of baseball, the fewer favourite players I had. It’s almost to the point where I no longer have favourite players, just players that I respect as ball players.
With that said, It’s gotta be Brian Bannister. I’ve never been a fan of his game, but he digs statistical analysis and photography: two of my favourite things.
Jose Guillen quickly took over the number two spot after ripping his own toe-nail out, and just generally being bat-shit crazy. He’s definitely got a Ron Artest quality to him.
Mine is defiantly Ken Griffey Jr. Especially hearing after all those players that took roids, Griff is the only in this decade to come clean and hit his hrs by working out and not roiding. He is also a very stand up guy. I had the chance to meet him, and he is so polite and friendly, unlike some players nowadays being cocky.
Mine has got to be Orel Hershiser. I still remember pulling his card out of an old pack of Score when I was younger.
Hideo Nomo for sure.
I would have to say Don Mattingly
Hand over heart – Thurmon Munson. I grew up in the 70s just outside of New York. I would go to games all the time in my Munson uniform, the day he died was one of the saddest moments of my then young life. I have collected his cards ever since.
Thanks for the contest.
Sorry – for BB this would be Tony Gwynn
My favorite baseball player of all time is Chipper Jones.
Tough choices, but Lou Gehrig
The main man is Will “the thrill” Clark
My all-time favorite baseball player is Dale Murphy.
The Big Unit, Randy Johnson!
Lenny Dykstra, of course.
I emulated his catching stance as a kid.
Ted Williams, All-American hero, frozen head
Babe Ruth hands down. The guy supposedly hit a home run that went under a pitchers legs during his follow through. But if we are going with favorite player we’ve ever seen, gotta go with Barry Larkin. Played each year of his career with my favorite team, played the game the right way, and was a true pro. If Ozzie wasn’t around BLark would have 10 gold gloves and would be a lock for the HOF.
David price is my favorite
Used to be Jim Thome before he bolted from Cleveland so I have to go with Victor Martinez
Frank “Big Hurt” Thomas
Cal Ripken Jr.!!!!!!!!!
Tom Brunansky….I became a big fan when he was on the Red Sox when i was a kid
Hank Aaron!! With Reggie Jackson a close second.
Ken Griffey JR
Mike Piazza by far. Something about him playing for my Hometown Marlins and Home away from Home NY Mets does it for me.
Wish he would have stayed or came back to Florida :(.
Gotta go with Cal Ripken, Jr.
My favorite player – Ty Cobb…!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ken Griffey, Jr.
Cal Ripken Jr.
Ryne Sandberg – woot!
WILL THE THRILL CLARK BABY NO DOUBT. GO G MEN!!
Steve Sax by far, overcoming a syndrome named after him!
Oh yeah, I’m a Sax supercollector who owns over 90% of all the cards made of him, including test runs and autos, working on printing plates and 1/1’s! Thanks Mario!
Roy Halladay is my favorite…just like this guy above me
Tom Seaver. What a guy…
My favorite baseball player of all time is former Mets left fielder Kevin McReynolds.
Hands down, its…
Larry Walker, underrated and should be a HOF’er
Will “The Trill” Clark
Of former players, Nolan Ryan — he was so hard to hit.
Of current players, David Ortiz — no other player makes his teammates look like little kids so often, celebrating after a walk-off hit. (I know this year is tough for him so far, but he will rebound.)
Speaking for myself, and not the site, Roberto Clemente.
Kent Tekulve was my hero…
My favorite picture is Nolan Ryan My favorite Hitter is Lance Berkman
Without a doubt Nolan Ryan.
All time? Gotta go with Mickey Mantle.
My favorite player of all time has to be Ken Griffey Jr (with Tony Gwynn running in a close second).
Keith “Game-Used Mustache” Hernandez!
Brooks Robinson. Best defensive third baseman of all time.
Mark Grace. I wore #17 in every sport on every jersey from 1989 forward.
even tho i am a yankee fan, my favorite player is alfonso soriano, i caught foul ball of his on the first game i ever went to see
im not much of a baseball fan, but i like Rick Monday, a former Dodger, an alumni from my high school and a patriot.
Nolan Ryan hands down kicked everyones rearend in four different eras of baseball.
<3 Darryl Kile – R.I.P
My favorite baseball player of all time is Babe Ruth. He could do it all, he could hit homers, he was a constant .300 hitter (one time hitting .393), he could pitch, and he could field. Ruth was also a good guy. But the most important thing about Babe Ruth was that he made baseball popular, He brought fans and money which made baseball bigger and better. Without him who knows where baseball would be today. That’s why I love Babe Ruth.
My favorite baseball player is Jackie Robinson because he is a good player and he on my favorite team, the L.A Dodgers. I would love to see him in real life. So far i have read 34 books about him. Now i would love to have his baseball card. Since i cannot find him in card packs i will wait until i move back to California. I love his books and his team mates too. He is very interesting and fun to learn about. I love using my time to learn about him live to be like him. I have been try7ing to be like him for 5 years now. I would love to find his card and my happiness will be complete.
