Bob’s Blog: Graded Topps Basketball Boxes

I am pictured here with two great boxes I just bought from a collector in Minnesota. They are 1973/74 and 1980/81 Topps Basketball.  Both are graded GAI 9.5 GEM MINT.   Both boxes are now available for purchase on the site.

The 1980/81 Topps Basketball Box is very popular among basketball collectors, mainly because of the fact that the set contains true rookies of NBA legends Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. The 1973/74 Topps Basketball Box may not have the same rookie star power (key rookies are Chris Ford, Bob McAdoo, and Paul Westphal) but it is very rare and even more uncommon to be in Gem Mint condition. The set does contain some NBA stars as well, most notably Julius Erving, Jerry West, Bill Bradley, Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and John Havlicek.
