This Kelly jersey is quite rare. Its the CLOSEST thing you will ever find to what Jim Kelly wore in Super Bowl XXVII. The jersey is game cut and is nearly identical to what he wore during that game. It is a mesh jersey with dazzle yoke shoulders, and the NFL shield based at neck and has the Apex One logo on the sleeves. Like all Bills game issue/used jerseys of this era, the numbers and letters are screen printed. "Kelly" is screened on short name plate as it was for games. (Retail versions had a name plate extending from shoulder to shoulder). Buffalo Bills traditionally wore Champion brand jerseys on the field from 1987 to 1997, however for a short time in 1993 and 1994 some players wore APEX brand jerseys for some games. Kelly had a endorsement deal with APEX, but always wore Champion jerseys on the field with one exception... the 2nd Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl. For whatever reason, that game he changed it up from the normal Champion to an Apex One jersey very similar to the one here. This jersey is not game used, but it is game cut/issued and is the size Kelly most commonly wore throughout his career. Any Jim Kelly authentic game cut/issued jersey is hard to come by, but the Champion version is much more common and easy to attain. The opportunity to own the Apex version of a authentic Kelly jersey is few and far between, let alone autographed and certified by JSA. Most autographed Kelly jerseys on the market are just custom replica ones, and they still run a few hundred dollars. It is a great piece because it could appeal to a autograph collector, a Buffalo Bills collector, a jersey collector, game used/issued collector, or a Jim Kelly collector.
