The battle to control the undersea world of Abyss continues with Abyss: Kraken. A new Guild of Lords, the Smugglers, is available for you to take advantage of and a beautiful new currency will use corruption to grease the political wheels. But be careful, each black pearl you take will cost you at the end of the game-if you can't get rid of it first. The new ally race, the Kraken, offer fantastic versatility, but taking their help earns you more of the perilous black pearls. New locations invite you to raid the loot deck for treasure, which can be valuable, but costly if you're too greedy. Finally, Abyss: Kraken adds a host of new lords, locations, and allies, all featuring the award-winning artwork of Xavier Collette.

Deep beneath the ocean waves, something terrible is stirring. The undersea kingdom of Abyss is about to change forever-and this change won't be helpful to everybody. If you've already mastered the undersea politics and backstabbing ways of Abyss, you can change the game drastically with the Kraken expansion.

New Allies, New Dangers

The Kraken expansion offers even greater adventures on the ocean floor for you and your friends. Here, you'll find a new race of allies-the kraken. These adaptable allies can be used as a stand-in for any other race, but they also carry a terrible cost. Using the kraken to recruit a lord forces you to take nebulis: tainted black pearls that cost you influence if you're caught with them at the end of the game.

These black pearls can only be spent slowly to avoid tracing the authorities back to you. Fortunately, you can also choose to hire the new guild of smugglers to secretly remove your nebulis without cost. Kraken also gives you the opportunity to search locations for loot, potentially gaining powerful rewards if you're willing to push your luck. For those who fail, however, the price may be terrible indeed.

Who Will You Aid?

The new allies and lords of the Kraken expansion offer immensely powerful rewards, but the cost is equally steep. Will you utterly eschew their offer of help to stay pure in the eyes of the law? Or will you turn to less reputable parts of society to push your claim for dominance? Whichever you decide, your adventures in gain new layers with the Kraken expansion.
