Giants win World Series; Bumgarner named series MVP

The San Francisco Giants won their third World Series of the last five seasons on Wednesday night with a thrilling Game 7 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Series MVP Madison Bumgarner delivered one of the most memorable pitching performances in World Series history as he threw five scoreless innings to save the victory. That effort came after earning wins in Games 1 and 5, including complete game shutout in the series’s fifth game. Bumgarner finished the Fall Classic with only one earned run in 21 innings of work. He pitched a record 52 2/3 innings during the entire postseason.
