Dave & Adam’s “Leaders of The Pack” – Week 8

An offensive shootout of historic proportions, a battle of undefeated teams and the wild card race in the AFC getting more muddied were just some of the headlines coming out of Week 8 of the NFL season. Now it’s our turn to recognize some players that had some headline days with this week’s edition of Dave & Adam’s “Leaders of The Pack”.

Quarterback: Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – 40 for 50, 511 yards, 7 touchdowns

It was a no-brainer to pick Brees as he tied an NFL record with his seven TD passes in the Saints shootout win over the Giants. The Saints looked to be in control of the game late in the third quarter with a 42-28 lead, but the Giants rallied with three-straight touchdowns to take the lead. Brees found C.J. Spiller for game-tying and record-tying touchdown late in the final minute of regulation. The win improves the Saints record to 4-4 and moves them to the edge of the NFC wild card race. It’s been a nice turn around for Brees, who was hurt earlier this year and had people questioning if the 36-year-old gunslinger should hang it up.

This is Brees’s second “Leader of The Pack” award of the season. Be sure to check out Dave & Adam’s selection of Brees single cards and memorabilia.

Running Back: Todd Gurley – St. Louis Rams – 20 carries, 133 yards, 1 touchdown

Gurley is quickly turning into the Odell Beckham, Jr. of this year’s rookie class. He missed the first few games due to injury, but has since exploded with some huge performances. Gurley’s 133 yards on Sunday marked the fourth-straight game that he put up more than 120 yards. A good chunk of those yards came on a 71-yard touchdown run that gave St. Louis the lead for good.

Interest in Gurley’s rookie cards continues to go up with every 100-yard rushing performance. You can find one for yourself in many 2015 football products, including 2015 Panini Prizm Football which comes out this week.

Wide Receiver: Demaryius Thomas – Denver Broncos – 8 catches, 168 yards

It was good to see the Broncos offense return to form in the battle of undefeated teams on Sunday night. Just about half of Peyton Manning’s 340 passing yards came on connections with Thomas, who had his best performance of the season. Even though the running game was responsible for the Broncos’ points on Sunday, it was the play of the passing game that got the offense going for Denver. (It also helps when your defense completely shuts down Aaron Rodgers.)
