I thought that Topps did a good job with their 1983 Baseball Set. Good Rookies.

Greg - I like the decade breakdown, and I agree the 1983 designs are pretty sweet.

I was in my prime as a collector (the first time) in the 80's. At least until I quit in '84. There are better designs, ('71, 76, etc.) but I think 1983 was a good year for card designs. The Topps and Fleer issues were nice and simple, but almost elegant.
I always consider the '80s to be the "default" or basic era, since I bought most of the sets when they were new. The seventies and before are "vintage", and the 90's is the "glut era". And new stuff is just new stuff. Nowadays, I think a lot of people consider 80's to be on the near end of vintage. I guess I don't want to acknowledge that I'm that old....

I think the 80's was a real boom in the collector's card world. I still remember cherishing my Kirby Puckett and Art Monk rookie cards for some reason. Mediocre in value, but for whatever reason, I kept 'em close.

I would have to say 1985 Topps Football - I really love the look of those cards. I still have a few sets, I may have to pull one out and take a look.
