What Is The Best Card You Ever Pulled?

DACWPullsBlog-Long

We love seeing our customers pull awesome cards. Whether it’s a rare autograph or something they’ve been wanting for their pc, it doesn’t get much better than excited customers, especially if we helped them to further enjoy the hobby.

Many customers share their pulls with us via email ([email protected]), at the Dacardworld facebook page, at the Dacardworld Google + Page, and on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #dacwpulls.

Every Friday we like to feature a few of the hits that have been submitted throughout the week right here on our blog. Tomorrow will be no different as we have some awesome cards to show off.

Today we wanted to give you a chance to share your “best pull” of all time and give a randomly selected winner a $50 Gift Certificate in the process.

Here’s how to enter:

Comment on this blog post with your “best pull” of all time (doesn’t have to be from us), as well as why it was the best – maybe it was obvious that the card is crazy valuable, or maybe it was your favorite player.

We’ll select a winner at random tomorrow afternoon, who will then receive a $50 gift certificate for Dacardworld.com

And for our customers – don’t forget to keep sharing your #dacwpulls as we often times hook up those who share their pulls from Dacardworld purchases with gift certificates.

And the winner is…

Thank you to everyone who told us what the Best Card They Ever Pulled was. There were some great stories submitted on our blog and we loved reading them all. Congratulations to David H. who was randomly chosen as the winner!

The best card I have ever pulled would have to be an Elektra sketch card painted by Charles Hall, for the Marvel Masterpieces Series 2 trading card set. I’ve pulled some great sport cards as well, but there’s something to be said for a hand drawn, one of a kind piece of art. It’s really cool.

The best card I ever pulled was a 2011 bowman chrome gold auto of Bryce Harper numbered to fifty, the worst part is I sold the card on eBay for 1800.00 to help pay bills and the guy who bought it sent me a message and pic back after he had it graded, and yes it came back a gem mint 10!!! Can you say sick,I was. I would give anything to have gotten to save that card for my then four year old son!

The best pull I have ever had was from a couple years ago. I went to Walmart and bought a blaster of Topps Prime. I went home busted open the box and noticed a huge, huge pack. I saved it for last. When I busted it open, it was a booklet card of CJ Spiller. I freaked! I never have pulled a booklet and i was caught by surprise! Still makes me smile thinking about it.

  23. Sean February 21, 2013 at 2:37 pm #

A Michael Jordan 2nd year card from Fleer. Got it when I was in grade school, when every kid wanted to be him. And there’s also the value of it. Unfortunately it was lost in a fire.

My best pull I have ever pulled starting from November 2012 is my 2012 Panini Contenders Alfred Morris Cracked Ice Auto #2/20. I received this hit from the last box of a case break last week through Cardsmiths. I’m currently selling it on ebay so I can make some quick cash to buy a few boxes of cards through you guys! My personal one stop shopping for cards! Thanks.

When I was about 10 my mom took me to the mall. I wandered away from her to visit the local card shop in the mall…I begged her to buy me just ONE Pokemon base set pack. When we were driving home I opened the pack without her knowing. Skimming through the cards my eyes brightened and I let out this cry! I pulled a base set Charizard. My mom nearly crashed when she heard my scream…it could have been anything. Nothing that day could have bothered me. I just pulled a Base Set Charizard. Still have it to this day, and that was a day I will never…EVER forget. Best pull EVER!

  45. Greg Connelly February 21, 2013 at 2:45 pm #

I pulled a 1/1 stamp card out of a box of 2010 Topps Heritage Baseball last summer…it was one of those 1961 stamps they had repurchased and put back out in the packs. The stamp itself doesn’t look to be pristine, but the card is, and it was a thrill to pull it.

  46. michael buzzard February 21, 2013 at 2:46 pm #

It was 1999 and I stopped by the shop in town and picked up a couple packs of odds and ends and and remember one pack of Score. I would normally open them up in the store but was running behind plus I spend more if I stay at the shop so just took them to the car and busted them. I open the 1st pack and pulled a Barry Sanders rookie reprint auto. It couldn’t have been a better hit in the set that year and the odds were crazy. I ran back into the shop to show it off and even think the owner sent it in as the pull of the month to Beckett. That is still the best card I have ever pulled to date.

  53. Michael Travers February 21, 2013 at 2:49 pm #

My best pull actually was form boxes purchased through the D&A website. From a box of Upper Deck Draft Basketball, I pulled a Michael Jordan autograph /23

  58. Kevin Dougherty February 21, 2013 at 2:52 pm #

The best car I ever pulled was a Ken Griffey, Jr. autograph out of a box of 1996 Upper Deck SPX I picked up from your guys’ scratch and dent store last summer. Not only was it an amazing pull for the name alone and the odds of pulling the card (1:2500 packs), but he was such an inspiration to me growing up. It’s rare you get an athlete of his stature, with class to match.

  59. Joel February 21, 2013 at 2:52 pm #

My wife had the best pull of all time; I just merely supplied the box. She is a big fan of The Big Bang Theory show on CBS. When Cryptozoic announced they were doing Seasons 1 & 2 of the show, I had to get a couple of boxes.

Those two boxes were duds in terms of the autographs pulled. Nevertheless, I went to a local comic store a few weeks later and found a fresh box of BBT 1&2 and bought all the packs. In the second to last pack, the wife pulls the Jim Parsons / Sheldon Cooper autograph! I don’t think I have ever pulled anything that huge from a sports card box in my life!

This has to be, by far, our biggest pull ever!

  60. Jeff February 21, 2013 at 2:53 pm #

The best card I ever pulled was a 2006 Fleer Ultra Campus Classics Paul Hornung Auto #13/25. Box purchased from DA Card World!

It wasn’t a crazy card to pull, and wasn’t crazy valuable, but it was one of my dads favorite players when he was younger. I was able to give it to him as a birthday gift, shortly after I pulled it and he was simply floored. He was never into card collecting but pulling that card, it sure got his attention. He will buy packs every so ofter, hoping to pull something again.

    Love the Hobby!

  74. Matt Gilman February 21, 2013 at 3:03 pm #

My best pull was my sons box of Upper Deck football 2009 we got from you guys. He was so excited to pull his first auto card. Even though it was Early Doucet seeing the excitement was enough for me

  75. Marty luczak February 21, 2013 at 3:03 pm #

Happened about 3 months ago I pulled a /15 2 color wheel patch of Brendan Smith auto from titanium. Just so my son wasn’t jealous on my way out of the transit store I grabbed 2 packs of 12/13 black diamond. Owen my son is a famous Thomas Vanek fan so when he pulled his auto outa the packs it was worthy of a holding card face smile pic. What was weird was when I was when I was about to snap the pic his hand started shaking & his eyes opened wide. It was holding it up when he noticed the 1 of 1 on the back. The picture was priceless. Unfortunately I lost it. But a 12/13 black diamond Thomas Vanek auto 1/1 for the worlds biggest Vanek fan.

  76. Sean Dickerson February 21, 2013 at 3:04 pm #

My best pull was back in 2003, and my best pull was a redemption card. It was from UD Authentics. At the time, Upper Deck was inserting redemptions for full size autographed items. I had literally just told a guy about these awesome cards when the first pack I opened had a redemption for a Larry Bird Full Size Mitchell and Ness autographed jersey. I about had a heart attack, it retailed for $700 on their website at the time. I redeemed the card and it is framed on my wall to this day.

  77. Nick Hohler February 21, 2013 at 3:06 pm #

I was busting a box of 2012 Bowman Draft with my Wife. We typically dump the packs up and split them 12 and 12. However, when we dumped them out of the box there was a HUGE pack of cards. My wife instantly spotted it and knew better than to grab it and open it (smart woman), so I grabbed it and openend it and pulled a 1/1 Futures Patch Relic Card of Gerrit Cole!!!!! I was SO HAPPY………It gets better too! I asked my wife to hold it up, so I could take a picture of it with her. She obliged and I took the picture, but she had NO idea that I would tweet about it and Topps would retweet it to ALL of thier followers. Needless to say, she was horrified (especially since she just woke up from her night shift of nursing).

  78. Ricky Jimenez February 21, 2013 at 3:08 pm #

The best card I ever pulled was a 2005 UD Dual auto Michael Jordan – Kobe Bryant /25. From SP Authentic!

  79. Lane Pierce February 21, 2013 at 3:10 pm #

Just recently started back the hobby and have not opened too many. Bought a box of the Big Bang Theory Seasons 3&4 and pulled a Danica Mckellar autograph card. It’s the one autograph I wanted besides the main cast, so I was very happy to pull a Winnie Cooper…

  80. Paul mccabe February 21, 2013 at 3:13 pm #

Wayne Gretzky autograph from upper deck

  81. Joey G. February 21, 2013 at 3:16 pm #

Actually just on Tuesday I stopped at the Dave and Adams store and decided to spend my gift card I got. I decided to buy a box of hockey cards named Pinnacle 2010-11 and it really surprised me after opening half of the packs and getting nothing special I then picked 2 packs to open next. I opened the first pack and found a Mike Fisher Game-Worn piece of his jersey. Then, now being excited I opened the next pack and found a similar card with Pascal Leclaire’s Game-Worn jersey! Although I don’t specifically like any of those players being a big Sabres fan I still thought it was pretty awesome to have 2 consecutive packs with rare cards in them.

I had two epic pulls back in 1999, In a 6 week period I opened a box of 1999 UD Encore at a local shop and pulled a second year 1/1 of Peyton Manning. The second one was at a card show in Mansfield MA that was bought from Dan and Mike Souto, from RI. It was a 2000 Donruss Elite Throwback Threads dual autograph patch /50. Now a days these hits are not as tough as they were back then. For a recent pull I have a Olivia de Havilland 2011 Famous Fabrics Ink Hooray for Hollywood 1/1 Cut Auto, and a Bobby Orr 2011/12 O-Pee-Chee Signatures Update Autograph odds of hitting those are 1 in 100,000 packs for a Level A. There are 10 different level A signatures making this one a 1 in a million pack hit.

  88. Barry Scott February 21, 2013 at 3:19 pm #

2005 SP Legendary Cuts Quad Cuts 1/1 Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner and Walter Johnson. Sold it, and never regretted it. The Ruth and Johnson cuts ended up being questionable, and the buyer worked out an agreement with Upper Deck. Here’s one of the articles about it: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2341577

  89. matt deagle February 21, 2013 at 3:20 pm #

First hobby box I ever opened was 2007-2008 topps echelon basketball on Christmas morning a couple years ago. Being from Boston getting a Celtic was my ultimate goal. Second pack I opened I pulled a Larry bird dual relic autograph gold #ed to 25. My hands shook when I pulled arguably the greatest Celtic ever.

Ps. The next pack was a magic Johnson auto, I was the happiest 13 yr old in the world.

  90. Dan Delong February 21, 2013 at 3:20 pm #

I don’t think I’ll EVER beat my best pull. It’s that good!

Back in 2008 right around August, I went in to the local card store to pick up a few packs. Nothing major, no boxes or anything like that. Just a few packs to break on the weekend. I can’t remember everything I got, but I know I had some 2008 Upper Deck, and some 2008 Donruss Classics among others. I was pondering doing a live break online for some reason, and I really with I had. Out of one of the packs of Classics came this:

    http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t243/westcoastskinsfan/football609.jpg

I’d never pulled a cut autograph before, and I loved the idea of it. So I first noticed that I had a hit. Then I saw it was in fact a cut autograph. THEN, I saw the player and the numbering. And I freaked out completely.

I don’t think I ever imagined in my wildest dreams that I’d have an opportunity to pull a 1/1 auto of a player like Jim Thorpe. Never even crossed my mind. But crazy things do occasionally happen!

In what may be the weirdest part of this story, the box of Classics had been sitting there, half-opened, for a LONG time. The number of people that walked right by this card blows my mind.

My best pull of all time was from 2011/12 SP Authentic Hockey and it was a Sign of the Times 5 Auto Card SOT5-OSIX Bobby Orr – Jean Beliveau – Bobby Hull – Alex Delvecchio – Red Kelly

For me it is a 2 way tie. When I was 10 I pulled a Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie #1 out of a pack of 1989 Upper Deck 3rd card down, slabbed it with a protector bought from the store immediately afterward, and have kept it since. Then, just a few weeks ago, from a box of Harry Potter Memorable Moments 2 bought at Dave and Adam’s Card world, I pulled a C9 Double Costume Card of Cho Chang and Hermione.

  101. Dave Karpinski February 21, 2013 at 3:31 pm #

My best pull came from three extra packs that I purchased from you last year. It was a Bryce Harper Bowman Platinum Autographed Refractor number 221/399. I always have always had bad luck in terms of pulling cards from packs but I got a smile after this one. Thanks

  102. L. Corricelli February 21, 2013 at 3:32 pm #

Bought one pack of 98-99 UD Hockey at 7-11 and pulled a Wayne Gretzy jersey card. This was back when the odds were 1:1500 packs for a jersey. I was super happy as the only other GJ I’d seen was one at a card show and it was a Vanbiesbrouck.

  103. Viking Pat Sloat February 21, 2013 at 3:33 pm #

Lou Gehrig, SP, 1 of 1 Black Printing Plate from 2011 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball

My best pull was a 2011 Panini Gold Standard SOLID GOLD Redemption 1/1 of Aaron Brooks pulled out a box from DAVE & ADAMS!!

It took a year to get the card from panini and by then i had moved away from basketball collecting so I sold it. But for that one moment, to know I had pulled something no one else had, was just way too cool.

    Thanks again, Dave & Adams!!!

  105. Adam Kritzberg February 21, 2013 at 3:35 pm #

Topps Olympics Lolo Jones GOLD Rainbow Auto 1/1! from a blaster box @ Target — was shocked when I turned it around & saw 1/1 stamped on the back!

I am 36 and all my cats from when I was a kid got ruined in a flood in NC. I said I would not collect again. I stayed in 2012 again and now am booked for life. My best card was my first 2011 panini gold standard Cam Newton Auto #rd to 25. He is my favorite player. My allot of my retail pulls where great also topps platinum trent Richardson die cut #rd to 50.

  109. Joseph Popp February 21, 2013 at 3:37 pm #

Wen’t to my local card shop and purchased 4 packs of cards 2 Sweet Spot baseball and 2 2009 Upperdeck. I thought pulling a Sweet Spot black leather glove auto of Derick Jeter was the highlight only to land a redemption for a Mystery Cut Auto from the Upper Deck packs.

Few months later received a 1/1 Cut Signature of Bringham Young! Epic Day indeed.

  110. James February 21, 2013 at 3:38 pm #

  113. Evan D February 21, 2013 at 3:40 pm #

I have been collecting since I was a kid in the late 80s. Amazingly enough, as I think back, I have never had a crazy good pull. I had fallen out of collecting for a few years as I went through college and money was tight. However, last year I got the itch again with all of the Allen & Ginter talk. I bought two boxes from DA Card World in the presell and waited for the delivery. The day they were delivered I cracked them over my lunch and hit an Arnold Palmer auto. Loved the pull, he is all class and I also had met him as a kid at a local golf tournament. Kind of took the thing full circle for me….still get as excited as an adult cracking open a pack as I did when I was a kid all those years ago.

  114. Eric Clarkson February 21, 2013 at 3:40 pm #

I bought the Panthers in a 6-box football break with TeamBoxBreak. One of the boxes was 2011 Topps Triple Threads. The second pack had a 1/1 Pigskin Parallel Auto of Cam Newton. BOOM!

  115. Dan Robison February 21, 2013 at 3:42 pm #

Always love buying hobby boxes. So I was at a local shop and had not pulled the auto that was promised. Well the last card in the last pack was Bryce Harper rookie auto. To this day t’s still worth $400. Best card thus far and I have no plans of slowing down. Also love your shop and everything you offer.

  116. Antony Lin February 21, 2013 at 3:43 pm #

I haven’t had the best of luck with cards despite collecting for many years. I’m going to say my best one was a Brett Favre autograph redemption card. A few weeks later the actual autograph card was in my hands!

My best pull ever was in 1997. I pulled a Topps Finest Dan Marino gold Embossed Refractor. At the time it book $800.00 And Marino cards were on fire!!! I ended up trading it for a boatload of stuff 🙂

  122. Colbey Hopper February 21, 2013 at 3:53 pm #

My best pull actually just came from a pack of 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures football that I got from D&A…rookie auto of J.J. Watt #’d 02/10.

  123. Justin W. February 21, 2013 at 3:56 pm #

Dwight Gooden rc, 1985 Topps. I was ten years old and he was my favorite player…I even got to seem him pitch in the Astrodome. Christmas morning, I opened some packs and pulled his rookie card. I’ve had some great pulls recently with triple threads and tier one, but nothing beats the excitement of being a kid and finding your favorite player’s rookie card in a wax pack.

  124. Michael Bartosiak February 21, 2013 at 3:59 pm #

I don’t buy high dollar product so I’ve not had a super 1 of 1 pull or anything like that. I have gotten some material cards but to be honest, my best pull was when I was 7 or 8 years old. I lived in South Florida and I can remember riding my bike with a friend or two about 8 miles to the All-Star Video store that happened to sell baseball cards. I can remember buying 5 packs of 1983 Topps with several weeks of allowance money. Being a Redsox fan, I was missing a rookie in my team set, some guy named Wade Boggs. I got to my last pack and yes! a Boggs card. I had so few cards that was worth a dollar or more. I was even more ecstatic later on when we found out how good a player Mr. Boggs was. Later on in life, I was glad this card was not near the gum, so no gum stain!

  125. Michael Kulczycki February 21, 2013 at 4:05 pm #

Autographed Joe Montana (#24/25) Super Bowl Legends card from 2011 Topps football was my best pull ever!

  126. Jacob K. February 21, 2013 at 4:05 pm #

Couple months ago when I pulled a Bobby Orr UD canvas card. Was the first box I had ever opened and to pull something like that was just something special considering I am a huge Bruins fan.

Thanks for the first box D&A

I’ve got a very limited budget for my basketball card collection at the moment (i.e. if I want a particular card at the moment I have to sell or trade from my existing collection), but had a few spare dollars a couple of months ago and picked up a 10/11 Upper Deck North Carolina pack. I was happy to fine a Larry Brown autograph in the $6 pack, the first auto I’ve ever pulled! 🙂

  128. Jesse Ecklund February 21, 2013 at 4:07 pm #

this was two weeks ago i had sold my AP dual patch auto #5 that i had won in a raffle i had gotten just enough to buy a box of 2012 playoff contenders the day before the price jumped up i had opened the box knowing the risk of sell that beautiful card knowing i had the chance of getting nothing out of the box in return well im glad i had the owner of my lcs hold my phone to film me opening the box it was in the 7th pack LaMichael james auto i know not that big but i am a ducks fan from portland oregon i turned the card over to see if it was numbered not only was it numbered it was numbered 1/1 biggest pull of my life i was almost in tears i bught this box for myself as a early 18th birthday present haha i couldnt be happier with my choice i do miss my AP but i am happy with the james haha thanks for the contest Dave and Adam haha

2004 Finest football, pulled a Ben Roethilsberger autograph refractor #/199. Took it to the national a couple years ago to get graded and it came back 9.5.

  132. Chris Gallagher February 21, 2013 at 4:15 pm #

My best pull was either a Shawn Kemp autographed Sign of the Times card from a hobby box of 2010-2011 Sp Authentic (purchased from dacardworld!) or a Gino Marchetti auto from 2006 Topps Heritage pulled from a retail pack!

  133. Devin Hudson February 21, 2013 at 4:16 pm #

When I was 11, my Uncle (then 32) was big into collecting baseball cards. He has always been my life idol and I wanted, and still do, want to be just like him. I saved up three weeks worth of my allowance and brought it to the local card shop to buy one pack of 2004 Donruss Elitle Extra Edition. The third card in the pack was a Phil Hughes /100 Red die-cut auto. I was so happy because that was the best card in the set at the time! If I remember correctly, it was worth about $300 which was alot to a 11 year old! That was a day I will never forget!

  134. Ken Fortin February 21, 2013 at 4:17 pm #

Best card ui ever pulled was from 2013 Topps Baseball Series 1
    A Buster Posey World Series Champions Autograh / Jersey card 03 / 50 !

    Great Looking card !

2012 Topps Football Super Bowl Legends Franco Harris Rainbow Auto 1/1…..it was sick

My best pull ever was a Derrick Rose “Modern Marks” on-card autograph from 11/12 Panini Past and Present Basketball. I was so happy when I pulled it because it is obviously pretty valuable, one of my most valuable cards easily, and Derrick Rose is my favorite NBA player and the main spotlight of my basketball card collection. So, that was a very happy and memorable moment the day I pulled that card.

  138. Brannon Baxley February 21, 2013 at 4:21 pm #

When I was younger I pulled a sweet Ken Griffey Jr. Statistical Standout from 1995 Leaf. The card looks and feels like a baseball and is still one of my favorite cards. Thanks

  139. Brian R. February 21, 2013 at 4:21 pm #

My best pull ever could be the Spectrum auto of Derek Jeter or the dual auto of Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra I pulled from a random pack of 2004 UD Yankees Classics at a local Hobby Shop. But it isn’t, it is from my childhood. The year was 1984. I was 14 and my dad dropped me off at the local card show. I had been saving all my tips from my paper route to buy a 1984 Donruss box in hopes of finding a Don Mattingly RC as he was my favorite player. I got about halfway through the box when EUREKA there it was. I was so happy. I felt goosebumps going up and down my body. So for me the 1984 Donruss Mattingly my greatest pull ever and the only card that will ever top that would be if my son ever was on a card and I pulled that.

  140. James Stewart February 21, 2013 at 4:22 pm #

I am an enthusiastic Wayne Gretzky collector. I buy/trade any of his hockey cards, base/inserts/jerseys/patches/autographs, if I do not have the card. I will go out of my way to obtain it. I keep the card number and description in an Excel program, which I have downloaded onto my recently purchased iPhone, allowing me to check my list for cards to ensure I need a particular card. I get very excited when I have the chance to trade/buy a Gretzky autograph, if I can afford it!!! At the Toronto Expo in November 2011, I pulled a Wayne Gretzky autograph redemption from a box of 2011-12 Parkhurst Champions, imagine my excitement!! I was on a cloud for the remainder of the weekend. I received the card a few moths later. Although it is not serial numbered the Upper Deck web site indicates the print run as /10. I still get excited when I think of it. All my other Gretzky autos I bought or traded. This card is extra special to me.

  141. steve emerick February 21, 2013 at 4:24 pm #

    My favorite.
Well it all started with a Beckett issue in 2001 maybe Ichiro was on the cover and it previewed a new Topps release called Topps Tribute Baseball and It had a picture of a Franchise Figures card featuring bat slices of Ruth and Gehrig in diecut 3 and 4.

None of my local shops would dare carry $50 a pack stuff (and in 2001 it was very commonplace)

So I ordered two packs from an online dealer.
Received the two packs and ripped into them. First pack got a honus wagner bat card! second pack I thumber the cards and spotted a blue card and the big letter “F” I just knew I had the card. I set the pack down without looking and left to buy a screwdown brick to put it in. At the shop buying the screwdown, my bud told me that there were all kinds of yankee franchise figures, he had seen some at the last weekend show, that it wasnt necesarily ruth/gehrig.

Longest drive home in the world!

Walked upstairs opened the screwdown and prepared for the worst.

BUT.. when I got to the card and slid back the base..

    gehrig/ruth it was!

First one was from 2012 Panini Crown Royale and I pulled a Rookie Silouette Patch/Auto /299 of Andrew Luck!
Second was from D & A’s card store just about a week ago with 2 tins of 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures and pulled a Cam Newton 1 of 1 Rookie Recruits NFL Shield Patch!
By FAR my 2 best cards!!

  151. Josh Burnes February 21, 2013 at 4:38 pm #

Believe it or not my best pull was a 1955 Bowman Jerry Snyder. I know this card is not worth much and the condition is not that great. However, I found this card in a floorboard in the attic of a house that my great grandfather built. How it got there? I don’t know. Who did it belong too? I don’t know. None the less it is definitely a PC card.

  152. Dan Older February 21, 2013 at 4:39 pm #

I bought a pack of 86/87 Fleer basketball about 10 years ago and hit a Clyde Drexler RC he is the nicest guy I ever met and my favorite player.

I want to say my Wayne Gretzky rookie card but that is from 1979 and we didn’t call it a ‘pull’ back than. From the last few years, I would have to say my 2010-11 Certifed Immortals Mirror Green #4/5

I would have to say that the best pull that my wife and I have had was a 2012 Topps Finest BB Bryce Harper Jumbo Patch Auto card /99. My wife was the one that opened it out of 2 packs we ordered. Ever since then she has been known as the “card ninja” in our house.

If it wasn’t for her supporting me and finding great cards like that, neither of us would be collecting 🙂

The best card by far that I pulled was a Shaq Frequent Flyer insert from 97Hoops. It was my first BIG pull, worth over $30 bucks on Beckett when I pulled it. I’ve since pulled a Kobe HRX Auto, Durant HRX, Nick Toon Auto Superfractor, Andrew Luck Crown Royale RPA /49, Kobe GS Auto, Julius Irving SPx Auto and a lot of other HUGE hits, but the Shaq is still my favorite.

  160. Dave Shimp February 21, 2013 at 4:46 pm #

Back in 1991 my wife sent me out to pick a couple of things from the convenience store. I bought a single pack of 1991 Upper Deck from the local WaWa along with her stuff and pulled a Hank Aaron Baseball Heroes Auto. It was awesome. On the card and hand numbered. First time I had ever pulled something that cool and still have not duplicated that feat or feeling.

  161. Thomas R February 21, 2013 at 4:48 pm #

The best card I ever pulled was a 2011 finest jacoby ellsbury die cut xfractor /10!!! I pulled this from my FIRST EVER HOBBY BOX a little over a year ago and I was amazed! I didn’t even quite understand how lucky I was since it was my first hobby purchase!

  162. Dustin Broostin February 21, 2013 at 4:49 pm #

I have 2 huge pulls in my 20+ years of collecting. Back in 2009, I bought a box 2008 Triple Threads football and pulled a Matt Ryan triple patch emerald auto #/75. I ended up selling it and making a nice profit over what I paid for the box.

As a life long Vikings fan, I have been wanting an AP auto. A buddy of mine bought 5 boxes of 07 Aspire, hoping to pull an AP auto, himself. I offered to buy the box for a little more than he paid. About 6 packs in, sat an AP auto!

  170. Ted Dastick Jr. February 21, 2013 at 4:56 pm #

My favorite player is Will Clark, been collecting him for around 25 years now to the tune of somewhere over 3,000 unique cards.

Back in 1996 Donruss Signature came out at *gasp* $10 a pack! I figured I HAD to give it a shot at least once, so I grabbed a pack at Kmart (they sold them in blister packs) and out of the massive checklist, guess who I pulled? To this day, I still can’t believe I pulled it! To heck with your Ruths and Mantles, this is easily the best card I could have ever pulled.

I have pulled a lot of case hits from one box orders from you guys. My favorite is hard to say, but I would choose between the 2010-11 Elite Black Box Basketball where I pulled a Black & Blue Signature of Bill Russell #’d 10/10 or the Rookie Hard Hats clear acetate auto I pulled of Russell Wilson #’d /99. I love that guy.

My favorite local hobby shop pull with be the 2011-12 Preferred Basketball of Ty Lawson’s Silouhette Prime. It’s a beautiful card. The booklets are why I bought Preferred to begin with. Nothing is better than great used memorabilia.

I could list several more. I always love buying boxes because you never know what you’ll get. It’s like Christmas!! Lol.

Ron Harper hand numbered 2 of 10 – okay… it is not the best hit … Shaq might have been better but Ron has won a couple of Championships, too…

It was a box from Dacardworld. 😉

Never again had such hot hands… perhaps in the future??? Who knows?

When I lived in Wisconsin I use to go to this shop called Dugout little expensive but the owner Rick is a awesome person always gave me free packs. I never pulled anything out of a free pack except rookie base cards. One day I bought $50 worth packs pulled nothing so he gave me 2 free packs last 2 packs of Donruss baseball first pack nothing at all second pack I started to scream Rick owner said what did u pull I still could not believe it a 1/3 Babe Ruth piece jersey and bat card book value was $300 at the time I needed the money so I sold it for full book value . I called Rick about a month ago bought few cards over phone because I no longer live in Wisconsin he still has the card personal collection and I asked what is it worth because it was so low numbered hard put a price on it but he says he was offered $1.500 for it and he refused sell it. I regret selling it but need to do what u need to do to survive in this world thank you Jeff.

The biggest pull I ever had just happened last week I bought 2 boxes of the Big Bang Theory Season 3 & 4. On the first box I was down to my last 2 packs and when I opened the next to last pack I Pulled the autograph wardrobe card of KALEY CUOCO as PENNY. I was so excited that she was my favorite character in the show and never pulled one of the main characters of the show. I also heard that it was a very rare pull. Also in the same box I pulled 2 wardrobe cards whch you suppose to get one. One was a Sheldon shirt card and a dual wardrobe card of Rajesh snd Leonard. That was the best pulls I had for awhile.

I bought one of those variety boxes from Kmart and out of a single pack of 1997-98 Pacific with all the cards stuck together, I could see the triangle diecut within the middle of the stack. The stack easily separated to unveil the Gretzky. At that time it was the single best card out there and still my most memorable hit

  213. Tyson February 21, 2013 at 7:15 pm #

It’s tough to pick the best pull of my life. It could be the Jonathan Quick SPGU Net Cord I hit on NHCD. It could be the Gretzky quad JSY I pulled from a cheap blaster one Sunday morning while my wife slept. It could even be the string of YG luck I’ve had with purchases of single packs at Walmart. Tavares, Duchene, Marchand, Nugent-Hopkins, Skinner Eberle; all from single retail packs.
I’d have to say though, that the honour belongs to a card most deem worthless. 1991-92 ProSet Niklas Lids from RC. I was 7 and it was my first RC pull. I still have that card as the cornerstone of my collection two decades because the feeling I got that day when I was 7 is exactly what this hobby is about. No pull since has felt like that one.

  214. Brett B February 21, 2013 at 7:21 pm #

Pulled a 2011-12 Panini Preferred Basketball Kobe Bryant Silhouette Autograph Jersey #/49. Sick card of my favorite player!

2004 Fleer Ultra Passing Kings Triple Auto #/50 Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Archie Manning. It was pretty sweet to pull the card. It was a redemption at the time. I waited 8 long months and it finally got delivered. I was shocked when I seen it’s beauty in person. On card autos in bold blue ink. It was also pretty cool that all 3 were Manning Family.

2011-2012 Sp Authentic Lebron James autograph. This was a card I pulled back in December 2011. It was my return to card collecting since I stopped back in my childhood days. It was my first hobby box since then. Being that it was Christmas time, I was eager to open this box that offered 3 hits! When I opened the pack and saw a Lebron James autograph, I was blown away! Since then, I’ve been collecting again and waiting for another big pull!

  222. Jay M February 21, 2013 at 8:19 pm #

you’ll have to bear with me as there’s a bit of a story behind this.

I had been a collector since I was a kid, hockey specifically, I collected up until my house flooded in 1996. All of my stuff was in the basement, cards, memorabilia, everything. And seeing as how it was a sewage backup and there was literally 3 feet of sewage floating around in my basement, nothing was salvageable.

Fast forward to 2012, SP Authentic had just been released and for some odd reason I itched to bust a box just for fun. grabbed the last one they had on the shelf and waited until we got home to open it. Opened 23 packs with mediocre results. The last pack however was awesome. The big box hit was a redemption, but still a pretty sweet redemption none the less. Patrick Roy, Martin Brodeur, JS Giguere SOTT Triples.

Best card I’ve ever personally pulled, and it was the card that reignited my love for the hobby

  223. James taylor February 21, 2013 at 8:23 pm #

2000 Fleer Tradition George Brett 3000 Hit Club jersey (of 445). Not a low number or autograph but I’m a Brett fan so this was big for me, especially since memorabilia cards were not really as easily available as they are now. Plus, I really liked the design of those cards at the time. Ultimate pull for me.

I was bored one day and went to Wal-Mart to pass some time. As I alway’s do, I checked out the random assortment of sports cards they had that day. I stumbled across two boxes (sealed) of 2005 Upper Deck Classics Baseball. After opening the second box I thought it was per the norm, some nice cards yet no real “monster” pull. With three packs to go, there it was, a #5 of 5 Joe Dimaggio Cut Signature card. I was elated to say the least. Unfortunately, about two years later my card came up missing, stolen, along with a few others. I have never pulled anything of that caliber since. So, if you happen to come across a 2005 Upper Deck Classics #’d 5 of 5 Joe Dimaggio Cut Signature Card, know it’s original owner still feels that loss to this today.

  253. Eric Naylor February 22, 2013 at 4:01 am #

My “best pull” of all-time was a 1994-1995 Upper Deck Basketball Collector’s Choice Gold Signature #23 Michael Jordan. I only spent about $1 for the pack of cards, and the card was worth around $200 at the time. It was in perfect condition too! I think it was my best pull just because it was so valuable.

I was lucky enough to pull the Lebron James Rookie Exclusives auto numbered to 100. I just stared at the card in shock, a truly awesome moment. The card shop owner took my picture with the card and each time I go back to the store I smile when I look up at the photo on the wall.

I pulled an autographed Michael Jordan Fleer RC numbered to 23 from a box of 06-07 E-X. It was a redemption and it didn’t say on the redemption card that it was this card, just that it was a Jordan autograph buyback. When the card was delivered via FedEx, I made a video of me opening the envelop and posted it on youtube. Considering the value, this is without any doubt the best card I ever pulled, and on top of that it’s from one of mychildhood idols. I think the box of came from dacardworld, but I got it through a guy on a forum selling self made packs who had it on his shelf for months. He’s still kicking himself for not opening that one 😉

My “best pull” was last Saturday. I had just gotten my first paycheck in quite a while, life had been rough. I thought I’d rewardy self do I went to my LCS and bought a box of 2012 topps magic football. I was a little disappointed with my box until the last pack when I pulled a Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin, and Justin Blackmon Triple Magic autograph redemption serial numbered to /25. Good thing too becsuse 3 days later I got laid off from work again. That card should equal about 1 paycheck at least.

Best card I ever pulled was out of a pack of 2008 Topps Heritage baseball. I never buy baseball, but I was in my local 7-11 and the guy had just put out a plastic gravity feed of different baseball card set along with some Soccer and racing. i bought a pack of the Heritage on a whim and opened it sitting in my truck gettign ready to leave. inside was a Mickey Mantle/Alex Rodriguez Dual Clubhouse collection Relic. BOTH with pin striping. Easily the best card Ive pulled and it was out of a retail pack at 7-11. Next day i bought a pack of soccer and hit a Kasey keller auto /25. Needless to say I havent pulled anything good soince from 7-11 lol.

Maybe not quite the best but most useful pull was in 2008 SP Authentic Football Peyton Manning future watch. I ended up selling it on ebay the next season for $400 and used the money to go to spring break and saw some sweet ladies…

Well this may may be odd for everybody to understand because I pulled my favorite card 42 years ago in a 71-72 OPC pack. I remember it like yesterday buying 10 packs for a buck and pulling a Ken Dryden rookie card #45 He was the hero and Conn Smyth winner of the play offs and it was his first card. I still have it today proudly displayed with all my other Ken Dryden cards…..I have loved this hobby ever since….Sorry not a game used or auto or a 1 of 1 but a card that was part of a set and a true rookie card.

I ordered a box of Titanium and Luxury Suite and was telling my fiancee while opening the Titanium, “we’re looking for a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins rookie”. Sure enough removed the front base card, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins true rookie #82/93. Thanks dacardworld.

When I was a kid, my dad would take me with him to the handi-market to buy milk and stuff. I would bug him to buy me a pack of whatever was on the shelf. They had a box of Fleer Premiere Basketball that I think nobody bought but me. We made enough trips over there to buy up most of the box. I never pulled the Jordan rookie out, but I did pull the Jordan rookie sticker. I was young and dumb and my friend ended up talking me into trading it a few years later for a hand full of cards. The card I can remember is a Steve Largent ’83 Topps card. Boy, If I knew then what I knew now…

I pulled an Ernie Banks the Greats Auto/relic #ed/5 from 2013 series 1. Best pull ever so far. so happy with it. I can’t wait to get it. It was a redemption so hopefully I get it soon. Also, it was my first ever redemption which was neat. I know a lot of people don’t like redemptions but it was fun to pull my first one. thanks.

My best pull was from a hobby box I got in 2011 from Dave and Adams !! 2011 Heritage Hank Aaron red ink Real One auto redemption !! Honestly 2011 hobby from your store was so hot for me, it was a hard choice to put the best pull, had to choose between 2011 gypsy queen Miguel Cabrera auto jersey /25, Honus Wagner mini plate from 2011 Gypsy Queen and a 2011 Bowman Chrome Bryce Harper auto refractor /2011 from Draft Picks !! Every great I pull I ever have gotten was from you guys proving you are one of the only trusted wax sellers on the net !!
