I just picked up a van load of wax boxes from the state of New Hampshire. Mostly junk wax from all four sports but there are many items that are going on the site that we haven’t had in a while. All these boxes will be for sale towards the end of this week. I really enjoy purchasing deals like this because it adds to the variety of products we are able to offer on our site. Our selection is something we take a lot of pride in.

A couple of things we are looking forward to:

We have been offered an incredible run of basketball boxes and cases from the early to mid 1970′s. That’s right, I said cases. It may take some time to complete this deal, but I will keep you posted.

I am also working on acquiring a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle. The seller has agreed to let us send it to PSA for grading before we conclude the transaction. This deal should wrap up in a week or two.

Reed, our Director of Purchasing, recently acquired over 60 cards from the legendary 1935 National Chicle Football set. Considered the top vintage set in football, collectors have long considered completing this 36 card set as a lifelong pursuit. The set is so tough to put together that only seven collectors have a complete set in the PSA Set Registry.

What is most impressive about this find is not so much the quantity of cards in the collection, but the spectacular condition of some of these gems. Fourteen of the cards were graded by PSA or SGC as NM-MT or better, including six graded SGC 96, all of which are considered the finest known examples of each card! While this collection did not include the highly coveted Bronko Nagurski (referred to as the Honus Wagner of football cards), it did have other HOFs such as Ken Strong, Clark Hinkle, Turk Edwards, Dutch Clark, and Knute Rockne.

While we sold quite a few of these cards at the National earlier this month, there are quite a few gems available on the Graded Vintage Football Singles page. Graded Vintage is our fastest growing category at Dave & Adam’s, and deals like the National Chicle football collection proves we will become a major player in this industry.

Our buying team has been all over the country in the last few months buying vintage baseball cards. Actually I may be short-changing them, they have been traveling for years (and the box truck has the wear to prove it).

While they are constantly seeking large quantities of older unopened boxes and cases of sports cards, they have also expanded our inventory of vintage baseball singles. After speaking with them, I can tell you that this inventory is still growing. PSA Graded Baseball Cards of some of the all-time legends including Jackie Robinson among others can now be found at Dave and Adam’s.

Once I start flipping through some of the pages of vintage cards on the site I can certainly see why vintage collectors seem to enjoy their cards so much. By the way, how sweet is that Mantle card?

Oh, and if you ever have anything you are looking to sell to Reed or our buying team you can contact them anytime.

One of the classic names in baseball as well as baseball card collecting has always been Babe Ruth. Whether it’s kids discussing the Babe in a movie or a couple baseball fans talking about the best players of all time, Babe Ruth’s name has long been a conversation point. One card that has always been highly desired is the Bambino’s 1933 Goudey #53.

Another highly desired baseball collectible is the autographed Babe Ruth ball. With a classic signature that really stands out, these balls are few and far between. Recently I saw some information on a pristine ball going to auction. The ball was signed in August of 1947 and really looked as it was described, pristine. The ball belonged to a Dr. Carvel Lincoln and was acquired at the age of 16 during a dinner banquet for an American Legion Baseball Team.

If you could have an autographed baseball of any baseball great, past or present, who would it be?
