I wanted to share with you a couple pulls from the 2009 Bowman Sterling
football box I just got.

One is a Michael Oher Rookie Printing Plate 1/1

The other is a Derrick Williams Rookie Auto/Relic/Black Refractor 15/15.

Major League Baseball Player’s Baseball Card Clubhouse Event

Have you heard of the Baseball Card Clubhouse?

Major League Baseball Players teamed up with Upper Deck, Topps, and Ultra Pro to offer a great program to Cub Scouts around the country. Scout groups can go into local participating hobby shops and participate in one of the Baseball Card Clubhouse events. During the event the troops learn about baseball cards and are given a nice Ultra Pro binder, 2 Packs of Baseball Cards (1 Topps, 1 Upper Deck), and a pretty cool badge for their uniforms. It is a great program to educate young people about the history as well as current information on baseball cards, and give them something to start their collection.

We recently held an event at one of our Buffalo area hobby stores and the scouts had a blast! Below is a slideshow showing a couple pictures of different scout groups we have had, as well as the kits they receive.

Topps Triple Threads Baseball is scheduled to release the first week of October. Topps has added a special “Camelot Card” to the product, paying tribute to the Kennedy Brothers – John, Robert, and Ted. The card is limited to just 5 and will be inserted into random packs of Topps Triple Threads Baseball Cards.

The always popular SP Authentic Football is now on the minds of many football card collectors as Upper Deck released preliminary images for the product on its facebook page. This extremely sharp looking Mark Sanchez 1/1 was just one of the initial designs.

Panini has released preliminary information for their upcoming 2009 Prestige Basketball. Included in the product will be autographed rookie cards of #1 pick Blake Griffin.

In the Game Released 1972: The Year in Hockey. The product delivers on great looking base cards and collectors can also find cut signature cards commemorating 1972 -The Year in Sports, Music, Television, Movies, and Politics.

From a new product perspective, its a big week for Topps Chrome Football. This product just released and is on fire. Next week look for Bowman Chrome Baseball and Upper Deck Goodwin Champions Baseball to make a big splash.

Top 5 Hottest Sports Card Boxes 3/12/09

Check out this week’s Top 5 hottest sports card boxes.

1. Upper Deck Premier Basketball returns this year after a strong showing in 2007/08. Each box contains 1 rookie auto jersey, 1 woven patch card, 1 triple or quad jersey variable card, and 1 jersey/patch or auto/memorabilia card. This is another of the short printed basketball card releases this year, as cases are limited to 500 in production.

2. 2009 Topps Heritage Baseball delivers one on card autograph or relic card per box. Heritage also has some of the best insert sets of the year thus far according to some.

3. 2008/09 Upper Deck Ice Hockey – Look for 3 Autographed or memorabilia cards, and 4 acetate ice rookie cards per box on average. There are plenty of good rookies in this product, and the popular level 1 rookies numbered to just 99. Hockey Card collectors that love the acetate look also get to look for the “glacial graphs” autographed inserts.

4. 2008 Upper Deck Exquisite Football – The addition of the exquisite gold pack has been very popular in the football card market. With all on card autos and a strong rookie class, Exquisite is on fire. No sign of Tiger yet right?
