I had two growing up.
Mario Lemieux, of course. Has to be considered a top 5 of all time. And in life after hockey, he saved my beloved franchise from their demise.
Paul Coffey. What he meant to the defensive position changed the way hockey was played. An entire generation or two or three were influenced by watching him on the ice. Plus he was a class act.

As a life-long Blue Jackets fan (I got into hockey when a local team joined the NHL) I’d have to say my favorite player is former Jacket and current Shark Jody Shelley. He’s a tenacious enforcer and was great for the Columbus community.

To me its gotta be Gretzky. Every hockey player aspires to be the great one and to play and have the career that he had. He is the most recognized hockey player in history and only has one real rival in the sports world and thats MJ.

Favorite player – Jaromir jagr
Reason: Look at his 91-92 Upper Deck card and look at the picture on the back of the card. With that kind of hairdo, he must be good. So, since the day I pulled that card from a pack, I became a Jagr fan and still am.
Imagine if I collected cards in the 70’s – would I have a lot more favorite basketball players? haha
Anyways, Jagr is my fav and still sport the old school Jagr to every Coyotes HOME game I attend.
I hope I win
